Holy Communion

First Holy Communion and Reconciliation

Second/Third Grade

One of the highlights of our catechetical year is the celebrations of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion with our young children.  Preparation for these sacraments is a two year process, typically beginning in first grade.  Also, parents of these children must regularly attend Mass and participate in family sacramental preparation classes.  Parents must verify parish registration and baptism information for children who are preparing for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.

RCIC (Rite of Christian Initiation for Children)

Similar to RCIA, RCIC (Rite of Christian Initiation for Children) is a program for children between the ages of seven and fourteen who have not been baptized or who are baptized but have not received First Holy Communion.  RCIC is open to parishioners who are in need of preparation for these Sacraments and for reception into the Roman Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil.  Whether you are just entering the Church, are returning after time away, have decided to delay your children’s sacramental preparation, or have any other circumstances, you are welcome.  For more information and to register for this program, please call our Faith Formation Office at 412-794-4008.

RCIA  (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults)

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a program designed to help non-Catholics grow in faith and knowledge of God as they consider membership in the Catholic Church.  Authentic faith aching has been handed down to us from Christ in both oral and written form, and for centuries has been promoted by the Church guided by the Holy Spirit.  The Catholic faith is shared during RCIA through a series of formation classes, candid discussions and personal witness, as well as prayer experiences.  For more information and to register for this program, which is conducted yearly within the cluster, please call our Faith Formation Office at 412-794-4008.
