Led by caring and trained catechists, parish children experience Christ's love for them through meaningful encounters with Scripture and Church teachings, fellowship and prayer culminating in missionary discipleship, and in the life-giving sacraments.

In 2015, St. Irenaeus religious education program merged with that of St. Joseph in Verona.  It meets from mid-September through early-May in the St. Irenaeus School building.  Classes are held on Sundays from 9:15 to 10:30 a.m. for elementary students in Kindergarten through fifth grade.  Junior high students in grades six through eight meet on Mondays from 6:45  p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Home-schooling options are also available.

Parish boys and girls not enrolled in a Catholic School must attend and satisfactorily complete each grade level of religious education.  Families with special needs children are most welcome.  For more information and to register for religious education, please call our Faith Formation Office at 412-828-3065, extension 102.
