Bishop John B. McDowell
Rest in Peace

Bishop John B. McDowell died on February 25, 2010 at the age of 88. As a young priest, he served here at St. Irenaeus Parish from 1945-1949. A more recent fond memory of Bishop McDowell will be of him joining us for our centennial celebration in 2007. As Bishop Zubik wrote: "Bishop McDowell was a friend and guide to many of us. A wonderful priest, pastor and bishop, I certainly remember him well as a national figure in Catholic education and a leader in our diocese."

Please remember bishop mcdowell in your prayers.

PASSION PLAY "Why Must He Die?"

presented by
Tri-county Choir Institute's Teen Chorale

Sunday, March 7, 2010 2:00 PM at St. Irenaeus Church

"Why Must He Die?" is a 75-minute meditation through music, drama, and liturgical dance on the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. This is a unique passion play using a play within a play. Throughout the trial of Jesus by Pilate and the Accusers, the action is repeatedly frozen while the disciples and apostles reflect on the life of Jesus and react to the events leading to His Death. They share their thoughts with the audience as if they were observing the trial. Written and directed by Sewickley Hills resident Linda Wallace, "Why Must He Die?" has been presented in over 100 churches and schools over the last 18 years. A good will offering will be taken.
